saying to update app through appropriate store even after I followed instructions on update, how do I fix?

it won't install the new update over the old one. started over three times already and lost allot of characters and levels

kinda gave up on this game because with every update I have to start over the entire game. if you could figure out a way to back up the game progress that would be much appreciated
