You don't need to download the original game, the problem with the download is related to Google Play Services/ Google play store. You have to have Google play services on your phone and login to play store. Everything should work fine after that. I've tested this multiple times and it worked. Even in Vmos .

No there's nothing wrong with the mod. You have to be login to play store on your device for the update to download.

Your device didn't have Google play store installed. Or it has it but you didn't login your Google account in play store. Once you login, the the updating screen will download the update from the play store

This the solution for the update screen. 100% working. I will add screenshot too. NOTE YOU NEED THE LATEST VERSION OF VMOS.

For everyone using Huawei devices or devices that doesn't support Google Play services. OR ANY ON FACING FAILED TO LOGIN ISSUE ONthis is what you have to do,

Step 1; download the latest version of vmos and install it.

Step 2; enter Vmos and install Android 7.1 64-bit rom .

Step 3; now inside vmos, go to virtual machine settings and enable gms services or Google Play services.

Step 4; Go to virtual machine information and click on it from the scroll down to the very last bottom and then disable the slide bar at the bottom of the screen where the SIM is written.

Now you have set up everything all you have to do is to enter the The Android 7.1 rom or restart your vmos and then login into your Google account on Play store inside vmos and then go back into the game and everything should work fine right now. it can download the update from Play store from here I hope this help everyone
